In what was the final game of Inter Miami CF Stadium (née Chase Stadium, DRV PNK Stadium), Inter Miami fell short of their Champions Cup dreams, falling 1-1 at home on aggregate goals to Nashville SC.
Considering Miami’s lofty goals to win the tournament, etched in a metaphorical stone over the offseason, the match was undoubtedly a must win.
Though Miami looked sturdy through large portions of the match, and even got Messi on the scoresheet quickly in the 7th minute, the Herons lacked the fight needed to play a complete match.
Nashville would then go on to get the game-winning equalizer in the 74th minute through Cristian Espinoza, and Miami couldn't muster enough attacking gumption to overcome the setback.
Between the suspect 4-4-2 formation that Javier Mascherano insists on playing, to the ill advised substitute of Telasco Segovia, this loss was due to mismanagement and the inability to create consistent chances in the box offensively.
Now, with the Men in Pink out of the competition, they have no choice but to throw all their eggs into the ‘re-winning MLS Cup’ basket.
Here are Player Ratings from Inter Miami’s soggy 1-1 aggregate loss to Nashville SC.
*I’ll rate every player on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5-6 being average/below average. For the substitutes, I’ll judge accordingly. *
Goalkeeping/Defense:

Dayne St. Clair - 6: Should’ve done better with Nashville’s winning goal.
Sergio Reguilón - 5: Get better soon!
Micael - 6.4: Did well defensively, and probably the best centerback out of the two tonight.
Gonzalo Lujan - 6.2: With Maxi Falcon out for a few weeks, he did a serviceable job.
Facundo Mura 6.1: Probably far more comfortable in an attacking position than defending, and it showed at times tonight.

Tadeo Allende - 5: Not effective, and looks woefully out of form.
Yannick Bright - 6.4: Tried his best to keep the rhythm going centrally, and did well to disrupt the flow of Nashville’s attack. Unfortunately, Mascherano took him off when his services would’ve done Miami a lot of good.
Rodrigo De Paul - 6.1: I think that he’s playing out of position. At his best, De Paul plays in an advanced role, being a tertiary runner alongside a more progressive, ball-playing six behind him. With Sergio Busquets now retired and Mascherano allergic to playing David Ayala, De Paul has been forced into a difficult spot. But, he should do better!
Telsasco Segovia - 6.6: It showed when he was substituted off the field, honestly. Miami was numerically outmatched and couldn’t control the game after that. Just a poor substitution.

German Berterame 5: Please score soon! Lol.
Lionel Messi - 8: Congrats on your 900th career goal!

Noah Allen - 7: Shame about Reguilon, but Noah did a solid job of filling in for the Spaniard.
