Sheffield Wednesday are considering terminating the loan of Joel Ndala from Man City due to disciplinary issues.

Sheffield Wednesday picked up a spirited point against Leicester City, although Jordan Ayew’s late goal denied them just a second win of the season.

Even though the Owls’ fate has been known for a long time, boss Henrik Pedersen is trying to maintain high standards as he prepares for life in League One, when there is confidence the club will be under new ownership, as the Storch family close in on a deal to purchase the Yorkshire outfit.

The takeover going through is the only thing that matters for Wednesday right now, but the supporters will have been proud of the resilience and determination shown by the team against the Foxes on Easter Monday.

However, it wasn’t all positive news for Wednesday, as Joel Ndala wasn’t involved against Leicester after he was disciplined by the club.

The attacker was left on the bench against Stoke City on Good Friday after turning up late for their travel arrangements.

That was the second time such an incident had happened involving the England youth international, despite Ndala only joining in the winter window, as he wasn’t on time for a home game against Millwall back in February.

And, it seems that Pedersen is ready to let Ndala leave Hillsborough, as the Sheffield Star has revealed that talks are taking place with Man City over what to do with the 19-year-old.

They claim there is a possibility he could return to Manchester early, effectively terminating his loan, which is due to run until the end of the season.

The report adds that Wednesday and City have a ‘good working relationship’, with Jaden Heskey another player who made the same move, and he has been a regular for the Owls.

Henrik Pedersen is right to take a tough stance over Joel Ndala

You would expect the majority of Wednesday fans to support Pedersen here, as it’s unacceptable for a footballer not to be on time for meetings on multiple occasions.

Obviously, a one-off can be excused, but for it to happen at least twice in the space of a few months for Ndala is not good enough.

Wednesday may be relegated, but Pedersen needs to ensure standards are high, and having the right culture around the training ground on a day-to-day basis will be crucial if the club are to be successful when the Storch family are in place.

You can be sure that senior professionals like Liam Palmer help drive those standards, but sometimes players will step out of line, and then it’s down to the manager to do what he feels is right, and he is seemingly ready to send Ndala back to City.

That will send a message to the rest of the dressing room about the importance of not letting your standards slip, and it will also be a learning experience for the player.

Obviously, he is still very young, and we all make mistakes, and this loan move has given him a taste of what professional football is all about, so it will be interesting to see if Ndala takes it on board and if he can fulfil his potential, as he is a talented player, even if Wednesday haven’t got to see that since his arrival.
