The Nerazzurri had signed the 23-year-old on loan from Roma in January. However, it is just this week that they have turned that into a permanent deal.

Inter signing Zalewski outright shows that they see a role for the versatile Polish international in their new project under Cristian Chivu.

Of his move to Inter, Nicola Zalewski commented that “as soon as I set foor in Appiano [Gentile, Inter’s training ground], something special clicked in me.”

“Not just on the pitch,” added the Pole. “But also my relationship with the people.”

Meanwhile, Zalewski insisted that “the Champions League is still a competition where we want to go as far as possible” in spite of a humbling defeat to PSG in the final.

“Then, we know there are a lot of strong teams.”

Zalewski admitted that the 5-0 loss at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain was “heavy.”

“But we’ve already digested it somewhat. We’ll get back on track.”

As far as his use as an attacking midfielder at Inter, Zalewski noted that “Until I was in the Primavera team, I played there.”

“But in the first team, everything changes. The pace and physicality.”

“Over the last three years I’ve been used as a wingback,” Zalewski noted. “And I’ve also been feeling good playing there.”

“I know this sounds banal to say, but I’ll play where the coach wants me to.”

And as far as what Cristian Chivu has given Inter as coach, Zalewski named “the communication side of things.”

“He’s created a great relationship on a human level,” the versatile wingback said of the Romanian coach.
