According to Glorioso 1904, Porto are close to signing Milan striker Santiago Giménez, a player Rui Costa had hoped to bring to Benfica.
Talks between the clubs are described as advanced, and an agreement with the 25-year-old could be finalised in the coming hours.
Benfica tracked Giménez from his Feyenoord days. Although now on Milan’s books, he is not in Ruben Amorim’s plans and may head to a domestic rival.
The reigning Portuguese champions saw their path clear after Gennaro Gattuso at Lazio, another suitor, virtually ruled out a move for the forward.
Giménez is poised to arrive on loan. Milan spent about €30 million on his signing around 18 months ago, and while he impressed at Feyenoord he has not matched that scoring touch in Italy.
Last season he made 18 appearances for Milan, 16 in Serie A and two in the Coppa Italia, totalling 1,037 minutes. He recorded one goal and two assists and is valued at €18 million.
