Porto ‘to beat’ Benfica to Tottenham left-back João Souza | OneFootball

Tottenham left-back João Souza is nearing a move to Porto, with Benfica also pursuing the Brazilian.

Globoesporte reports that Porto acted quickly to overtake Benfica, who have lodged a €20 million bid, and are close to landing the 20-year-old.

Souza joined Tottenham from Santos in 2025 for €15 million and has a contract through June 2031.

His spell at Tottenham has yet to take off and he featured only sparingly last season.

In 2025/26 he made four Premier League appearances totalling 144 minutes, without a goal involvement. He is valued at €12 million.
