On Saturday, Pouso Alegre of Minas Gerais announced the signing of João Gabriel, the striker who featured for Corinthians' Sub-17 side. He left the São Paulo club after terminating his deal earlier this year.
According to Meu Timao, Corinthians released nearly 30 academy players during the last transfer window, and made additions to strengthen older age groups.
At Sub-17 level he played 16 matches for Corinthians, recording 10 wins, three draws and two defeats, a 73% return. He scored five goals across competitions including the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Paulistão Sub-17.
Pouso Alegre recently competed in the Campeonato Mineiro first division, finishing second in Group B with 13 points to reach the knockouts. In the semi-finals they faced Cruzeiro and went out after defeats in both matches.
Despite that exit, the club won the Campeão do Interior title, awarded to the best overall campaign outside Belo Horizonte's trio Atlético Mineiro, Cruzeiro and América Mineiro.
Former Corinthians midfielder Danilo is on the coaching staff, having led the team during that campaign. The club legend, a Libertadores and Mundial winner, has also worked in Corinthians' academy.
