Predicted XI: January arrival to get first start for Chelsea in rotated team to face Hull

Chelsea take on Hull tonight in the FA Cup, and we’re really curious about what team Liam Rosenior will pick.

He insisted in his pre-match press conference that he didn’t see it as a chance to rotate. But that’s just madness – after managing ten game in month since taking over, he surely has to give some of his starters a break.

In goal we’ll still likely see first choice man Robert Sanchez. That allows Rosenior to give the illusion of a first team selection in a position where fatigue isn’t a problem.

Liam Rosenior as Hull manager.

At right back, Reece James has been out for a while, but we don’t see why he would be risked today. Malo Gusto has been covering and could also use a break. So Josh Acheampong could be switched out to the right.

Centrally, Rosenior hinted strongly that the newly recalled Mamadou Sarr could get a start, and so we’re confident he does. Trevoh Chalobah has played a lot, but wanting to keep things strong and knowing there’s a week off after this, he probably starts again tonight.

Marc Cucurella has hurt his hamstring and so Jorrel Hato is certain to play on the left.

Andrey Santos has played less than Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo so we reckon he starts. Enzo has been overused but probably starts and is taken off at half time or 60 minutes if all is going to plan.

Estevao and Alejandro Garnacho are both ready for more minutes, so they should be out wide while Joao Pedro drops deeper to give Cole Palmer a break.

Liam Delap is sure to get a start up top.

In other news…

Liam Rosenior has a big connection with tonight’s opponents – not only did he manage them and play for them, he also used to spend a lot of time there as a kid, because his grandmother lived locally. It’s going to be a special evening for him.

The number one job for Rosenior tonight is to rotate. There are players who are racking up crazy numbers of minutes, and they need a break. We won’t get a better chance all season than tonight.
