All matches in this round of fixtures are dedicated to the Premier League’s More Than A Game initiative, celebrating the league’s long-standing commitment to club-organised community football programmes. Each club is invited to name a Community Captain who has made a significant impact in their community, and this year, Brentford has chosen Brentford FC Community Sports Trust coach, Forrest.
Forrest is a parent who has been volunteering across Premier League Kicks and other community engagement programmes delivered by the Trust since July 2023. Often giving up four or five evenings a week in a voluntary capacity, Forrest not only supports delivery staff on the night at each venue with session admin and behaviour management, but also works closely with the Trust’s Community Engagement team to identify new participants and signpost them to different programmes, ultimately supporting more young people across west London.
Graham Goodden, senior manager for communities engagement at Brentford FC Community Sports Trust, said: “Carly’s support across our Kicks delivery and all other community engagement projects over the last few years has been incredible.
"She has aided us in promoting sessions and, more importantly, signposted the right people to the additional support we offer, like food parcels at Christmas.
“If we could replicate the level of support received by Carly with other parents, it would be a huge support and increase in participation and engagement across other areas. We are extremely grateful for everything Carly does.”
This season, More Than A Game takes place over two match rounds (14-22 March) and continues to demonstrate how the success of Premier League competition on the pitch enables brilliant work off it in communities across England and Wales.
An independent study by social research agency Substance found that Premier League club charity and Premier League Foundation programmes will generate more than £4.3 billion in social value between 2025 and 2028. This is delivering notable improvements in wellbeing, physical and mental health, education and employment, as well as strengthening social cohesion and community connection.
As part of More Than A Game, the League will celebrate more than 100 Community Captains, all individuals nominated by Premier League, EFL and National League clubs for their contribution to their local community through programmes funded by the Premier League.
This season is the 20th anniversary of Premier League Kicks, which sees 93 Premier League, EFL and National League clubs delivering free weekly football and personal-development sessions.
Since the launch of the programme, which uses the power of football to inspire young people to reach their potential, more than 600,000 young people have participated at over 5,000 venues across England and Wales. Sessions take place in some of the most underserved communities, supporting those who need it most.
Brentford was one of a handful of clubs that originally piloted the Premier League Kicks programme in 2006. Since the first session in 2006 until the end of 2025, we have delivered almost 14,000 Kicks sessions to more than 16,000 participants. That represents over 30,500 hours of activity in our communities.
