PREVIEW: Bristol City look to get back to winning ways against Lincoln | OneFootball

Bristol City will host newly promoted Lincoln City tomorrow evening, as they look to bounce back from a 4-1 defeat away at Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

It will be an intriguing test for Michael Skubala, who led Lincoln to their League One title-winning campaign last season, amassing 103 points. Skubala’s assistant for the best part of two years, Chris Cohen, is now in charge of the Imps and has guided them through a solid start to the season, picking up eight points from six games.

Skubala has also enjoyed a strong start to the campaign with his new side, who have picked up 10 points so far, and went on a run of three consecutive wins against Portsmouth, Preston North End and Burnley before falling to a clinical Southampton side this past weekend.

These two sides last met in the third round of the 2022/23 Carabao Cup, which saw Lincoln pick up a 3-1 win at Ashton Gate thanks to goals from Matthew Virtue, Ben House and Paudie O’Connor, whilst Tommy Conway netted a late consolation goal for the Robins. However, the last league meeting between the two came in April 1986 when they played out a 1-1 draw in the third division.

The goals have been shared around for Cohen’s side so far, with nobody finding the net more than once in the league so far. Adam Reach, House, Freddie Draper, Mikkel Ladefoged and Reeco Hackett have all scored once. Meanwhile, Bristol City’s marquee Summer signings Dom Ballard and Lorent Tolaj have both hit the ground running, scoring two Championship goals each up to this point.

Luke McNally remains the only notable absentee from the Robins’ squad, as he continues to recover from an ACL injury sustained in February 2025. However, Mason Melia, Thomas Hamer and Tendayi Darikwa look set to miss this one for Lincoln due to ongoing issues.

Bristol City academy graduate, Ryley Towler, has played a key part in the Imps’ season so far and looks likely to feature tomorrow evening, having been rested for his side’s win over Preston on Saturday.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:45pm BST on Tuesday evening, and will broadcast live on Sky Sports+.
