Barcelona are taking careful steps to prepare one of their brightest young talents, Jofre Torrents, for the future.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the 18-year-old left-back is currently following a personalised physical training plan, designed by the club’s coaching staff, to help him grow stronger and improve his endurance.
The Blaugrana view Torrents as a long-term first-team player, and they are determined to manage his development properly.
Torrents, who came through La Masia alongside Lamine Yamal, Marc Bernal, and Pau Cubarsi, renewed his contract with Barcelona last May until 2028.
Despite the fact that the club already has solid options at left-back, namely, Alejandro Balde and Gerard Martin, there is significant hope for Torrents. Barcelona believe he brings something different to the table.
Known for his excellent ball control and ability to dribble both inside and outside, Torrents also possesses good vision for the final pass and strong defensive awareness.

However, the club recognises that he still needs to build up his physical strength and stamina to be fully ready for the demands of senior football.
That is why the special fitness plan has been put in place, ensuring he gets the right balance between technical growth and physical preparation.
Looking ahead to the 2025/26 season, Torrents is expected to be part of Barcelona’s pre-season tour of Asia under Hansi Flick.
The tour will give several youth players a chance to prove themselves, and Torrents is among those set to get a closer look from the coaching staff.
However, the club is also being realistic about his path. Torrents will start the new season with Barça Atletic, but with a clear projection towards the first team.
The plan is for him to be ready whenever needed, especially as reliable cover for Balde and Martin.
Barcelona see this as an investment in the future, aiming to shape Torrents into a player who can eventually make the leap to the senior squad at the right moment.
