PSG step up pursuit of Barcelona star after missing out on Diomande | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain have accelerated their interest in Ferran Torres after losing out on Yan Diomande, placing the FC Barcelona forward among their main attacking targets for the final weeks of the transfer window.

According to SPORT, the French champions want to secure agreements for Ferran and Monaco winger Akliouche as they reshape their attack. PSG believe the Spain international is open to the move and plan to approach Barcelona once personal terms are advanced.

Luis Enrique views Ferran as a player capable of operating through the middle, particularly after Goncalo Ramos completed a move to Milan. PSG are also working on the departure of Kolo Muani, with Juventus discussing a deal worth around €40 million.

That figure could become the basis of an opening offer for Ferran. Barcelona, however, are expected to demand closer to €50 million and have no intention of accepting a reduced fee simply because PSG want to move quickly.

The French club are prepared to offer Ferran a four-year contract with improved wages. Barcelona want to retain him, but any renewal talks are expected to wait until September, and the financial package available at Camp Nou would likely be more modest.

The final decision may therefore depend heavily on Ferran himself. Luis Enrique’s presence in Paris is an important factor, given their previous work together with Spain and the coach’s belief in his versatility.

Barcelona should not be rushed into a sale

From Barca’s perspective, this is not a simple case of selling a squad player. Ferran has become a reliable source of goals, accepts different roles and offers Hansi Flick an experienced option across the front line.

A €40 million bid would not reflect his current sporting value, especially when Barcelona would then need to find another forward late in the market. PSG’s urgency should strengthen Barca’s negotiating position, not weaken it.

The club must also consider the message a sale would send. Ferran may not be an automatic starter, but strong squads need players who can contribute without constant disruption over minutes or status.

If Ferran pushes firmly for the move and PSG reach Barcelona’s valuation, a transfer could make sense. Until then, Barca should remain calm. The pressure belongs to Paris, and Deco has every reason to demand a fee that properly compensates the club for losing a useful and proven attacker.
