Ousmane Dembélé (28) is set to be absent for six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury during France’s victory over Ukraine on Friday night.
The Paris Saint-Germain forward picked up a hamstring injury the previous weekend, during PSG’s 6-3 win over Toulouse FC. However, playing for Les Bleus, he injured the other hamstring after he came off the bench at half-time. He lasted less than 35 minutes in the game and he is now set for a period on the sideline.
PSG are “furious” with Les Bleus’ management of Dembélé, having informed the medical staff of the winger’s injury going into the break. The former Barcelona and Stade Rennais winger is now set to miss six weeks of competition, according to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.
It means that he will miss PSG’s UEFA Champions League opener against Atalanta later this month, as well as a date against his former club, Barcelona, at the start of October. His team-mate, Désiré Doué (20), was also injured in France’s win on Friday.
He was withdrawn at half-time with a calf injury and will be out for between three to four weeks, as per L’Équipe. It means that he is certain to miss PSG’s UCL opener against Atalanta and is a doubt to face Barcelona.
