Oxford manager Gary Rowett and QPR defender Rhys Norrington-Davies were involved in an altercation late in their 0-0 draw.
Tempers reached boiling point in Queens Park Rangers' goalless draw at home to Oxford United on Wednesday evening, with U's manager Gary Rowett coming to blows with R's defender Rhys Norrington-Davies in the closing stages of the match.
The R's knew that they had the chance to go five games unbeaten with a win or a draw, with a win propelling them up into the play-off places above Bristol City and Leicester City, whilst Oxford looked to bounce back from their weekend defeat at home to Sheffield United.
Neither side was likely to give away too much during the game, and so it transpired.
With the clock ticking towards the final whistle, there had been just one shot on target all match, with both sides showing signs of frustration.
As the ball went out of play and landed near the Oxford dugout, R's defender, Norrington-Davies, quickly attempted to get the ball back into play, but would instead find himself coming to blows with Rowett.
Both would receive yellow cards following the incident, in what some fans are labeling as the most exciting moment of the match.
With Rowett and Norrington-Davies' altercation being the main talking point to emerge from the match, fans were quick to take to social media to react to the incident.
One of the commentators claimed: "It's not what you want to see, is it?" with this fan being unable to disagree more, in what was one of the most action-packed moments of the match.
This fan reiterates the rhetoric of the lack of action that took place between the two sides, which ultimately ended 0-0.
To claim that fists were flying everywhere would, in truth, be entirely disingenuous, but given the nature of the match, this ended up being the most excitement either set of fans would have had all game.
The goalless draw means that QPR go five unbeaten in the league, in what has been a remarkable turnaround since their 7-1 defeat at the hands of Coventry City.
Despite this, Oxford will likely come away slightly happier of the two, as they continue to scrape for points down at the bottom end of the table, in what has proved to be a difficult start to the new campaign for Rowett's side.
The U's comfortably survived in their first season in the Championship last season, despite many having tipped them for relegation, and they will look to do the same this season, but will have to start picking up wins sooner rather than later.
Their only win of the season so far came away to high-flying Bristol City, proving that they are more than capable of an upset, and head to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Saturday, who themselves are struggling.
QPR, meanwhile, head to the aforementioned Bristol City, as they look to make it six games unbeaten at Ashton Gate.
