QPR have been advised to prevent a specific transfer scenario from occurring.
This article is part of Football League World’s ‘Terrace Talk‘ series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
QPR are a new-look outfit heading into the 2025/26 Championship campaign.
Manager Julien Stephan is embarking upon his first venture in English football, filling the vacancy left by former boss Martí Cifuentes.
The Hoops have signed Rumarn Burrell, Kealey Adamson, Kwame Poku and Amadou Mbengue this summer, and now enjoy Karamoko Dembélé’s services on a permanent basis.
However, with eight outgoings, it could be argued that Rangers’ squad is looking somewhat thin heading into the new season.
This has led to Football League World’s QPR fan pundit, Louis Moir, highlighting the situation Stephan and Co. must avoid in the coming weeks.
“Our window started off well with some early signings, but then we’ve really had nothing since,” stated Louis.
“I think the club know what we need.
“That for me is three to four more players in very important key positions, such as left-back, another centre-midfielder and two strikers. But my fear is that we may not get exactly what we need and that would lead to squad depth issues again.
“We've seen that season upon season, especially with injury crises as well. When we have a few injuries, a few knocks here and there, we don't see the best 11 most weeks being put out by the manager. It affects us big time and you can't build any consistency.
“So, I think my fear is that we might get a striker or two coming in, but we need someone at left-back, another centre-midfielder; you could even argue a back-up right-back, because there are potential problems there with players you can't trust when it comes to fitness.
“If we don't get all that, my fear is that the squad depth might be an issue again, the longer we get into the season. It's going to affect us because I cannot be bothered to watch a team try and progress but being continually knocked by injuries.
"It's annoying how you can't put your best 11 out most weeks, and what are you meant to do when that happens? So, you need depth.
“A lot of our pre-season has just featured young kids being on the bench, getting a lot of minutes. You do not want your bench in the Championship to be mostly kids. You need a bit more experience and quite a lot more quality in key positions, then we can try and kick on.
“Fingers crossed we can get that business all done, but my fear is that we don't get exactly everything we need, and it could lead to problems.”
On the surface, QPR look to enjoy an exciting squad that could cause most teams in the Championship problems next term.
Players such as Poku, Dembélé and Ilias Chair are creative tools that have the potential to create chaos and get the Loftus Road faithful off their feet regularly.
However, as mentioned by Louis, a few injuries could seriously negatively impact the level of quality in QPR’s squad.
Therefore, some extra signings before the end of the window would provide Stephan with some much-needed squad depth, which is crucial over 46 games.
