Anthony Gordon is considered a top candidate for FC Bayern and now Max Eberl has been asked directly about the England star

FC Bayern’s plans for the summer transfer window are already in full swing, with Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon a prominent name that has been under discussion for weeks. The England international is said to be the preferred option for the attacking side and has been repeatedly linked with a move to Munich

Director of Sport Max Eberl has now personally commented on the speculation – and put the brakes on. On ZDF‘ s „Aktuelle Sportstudio“, he was asked specifically about the rumors surrounding Gordon

His response: „We’ll take our time to see which players we actually bring in, but I think it’s a bit disrespectful to talk about players who could be with us from 1 July 2026 before the game in Paris, before the cup final, when every player who is still under contract with us is important.“

Bayern deliberately keeping a low profile

Eberl thus makes it clear that transfer discussions are not a priority at the moment. According to the FCB boss, the focus is entirely on the decisive games of the season – above all the Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain and the DFB Cup

Even though those responsible are certainly keeping a close eye on the market and are looking at potential new signings, specific names are not to be discussed publicly at present

Especially in the decisive phase of the season, they want to avoid unrest and focus on the existing squad

Nevertheless, Gordon is still considered an exciting profile for Munich. The 25-year-old has impressed in the Premier League – and until Newcastle’s elimination also in the Champions League – with pace, versatility and goal threat and would fit well into Vincent Kompany’s flexible attacking system.
