Rangers teenager Findlay Curtis has described his first senior Scotland call-up as ‘a dream come true’ after being named in the squad for the upcoming friendly double-header against Japan and Ivory Coast.

The 19-year-old winger, currently flourishing on loan at Kilmarnock after his move in the winter transfer window, has been rewarded for a string of standout performances.

Speaking to Killie TV (h/t BBC) shortly after the announcement on Monday afternoon, Curtis revealed the emotional impact the news had on his family.

“It’s unbelievable – I didn’t expect it at such a young age, but it’s a dream come true,” Curtis said.

“I got a call from the gaffer [Neil McCann] saying I was in consideration, and I was just sitting there thinking, ‘this is mental’.

“When he confirmed I was in, I told my mum and dad, and my mum started crying. It’s huge.”

With the 2026 World Cup in North America looming this summer, the inclusion of Curtis signals Steve Clarke’s intent to integrate fresh talent into the squad.

John McGinn, Scott McTominay and John Souttar are among the senior players in the Scotland team, but Clarke is looking to the future.

Curtis is joined in the squad by another rising star, Udinese’s Lennon Miller, as Clarke looks to build momentum following Scotland’s dramatic qualification victory over Denmark in November.

With Lawrence Shankland still sidelined through injury, Curtis may fancy his chances of earning a first cap at Hampden Park on March 28.
