Real Madrid and superstar forward Vinicius Jr. have hit a stubborn financial standstill in negotiations over a contract extension, with neither side currently willing to compromise on their respective terms, reports journalist Mario Cortegana (via Inaki Angulo TV).
While both parties share a mutual desire to hammer out a fresh agreement to secure the Brazilian’s future, a significant economic gulf remains between the club’s strict structural offering and the player’s baseline expectations.
The clock is ticking heavily against the Spanish capital giants. Vinicius’ current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu runs until June 2027, meaning he has officially entered the final 12 months of his contract.
To avoid the catastrophic scenario of the winger opening pre-contract talks with foreign suitors as a free agent on 1 January, Real Madrid executives have scheduled a high-stakes, face-to-face meeting with the player’s entourage for late July.

This upcoming summit carries immense institutional urgency, as senior leadership looks to completely untangle the knot before the new domestic campaign gathers full momentum.
The deadlock centres entirely on the financial architecture of the proposed long-term contract.
Vinicius, who is currently away on holiday following Brazil’s World Cup exit against Norway, currently earns a net annual salary of roughly €17 million.
Real Madrid’s senior management have offered to bump those terms up to a fixed €20 million per season. However, the player’s representatives have firmly knocked back the proposal.

Vinicius’ camp is demanding complete financial parity with the squad’s top earner, Kylian Mbappe, holding out for a package valued closer to €30 million annually alongside a substantial, unprecedented renewal bonus.
President Florentino Perez remains highly reluctant to compromise the club’s tightly guarded wage hierarchy, meaning a definitive breakthrough relies entirely on someone blinking first during the late-July talks.
Both parties are firm that they intend to extend their partnership, but have not conceded their position so far, creating a tense situation surrounding the Brazilian’s future.
And, if an agreement is not finalised in the upcoming meetings, Real Madrid are not ruling out any scenario with Vinicius, including the possibility of a summer sale.
