The ongoing campaign has been one to forget for Real Madrid. Many players have failed to perform at the level expected, starting from superstar names like Vinicius Jr. and Jude Bellingham.

Meanwhile, Eduardo Camavinga, who was expected to step up and shoulder greater responsibility in midfield following the exit of Luka Modric, has disappointed as well.

So much so that, reports have claimed that Real Madrid could be open to selling the 23-year-old Frenchman in the summer following an underwhelming campaign.

Borussia Dortmund’s enquiry for Camavinga knocked back

However, according to journalist Ramon Alvarez, Real Madrid have knocked back an enquiry from Borussia Dortmund for Camavinga.

Indeed, the Bundesliga giants, who have a good working relationship with Los Blancos, recently asked about the French international’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

But, as per the report, Real Madrid informed Dortmund that, as things stand, Camavinga is not for sale.

The 23-year-old midfielder’s situation has also generated interest from PSG, but it appears that contrary to reports, Real Madrid are not considering his exit at the moment.

Camavinga wants to stay

Meanwhile, Camavinga, for his part, is intent on staying at Real Madrid and proving his worth after what he accepts has been a poor campaign.

The Frenchman has struggled with injuries, inconsistent performances, and costly errors on the pitch. At one point this term, he even fell behind teenager Thiago Pitarch in the pecking order in midfield under Alvaro Arbeloa.

Despite the situation, Camavinga remains keen on continuing at the Santiago Bernabeu and fighting for his place in the team next season.

A lot could depend on the next manager, who is expected to be Jose Mourinho, and whether he decides to give the 23-year-old a chance or swing the axe.

For now, however, Real Madrid’s response to Dortmund about Camavinga was that he was not for sale.
