According to a report from Real Madrid Confidencial, Real Madrid’s hopes of bringing back their former youth product Nico Paz in 2026 have hit a new obstacle.
The midfielder, who came through the club’s youth ranks, is admired by the Madrid hierarchy, but Chelsea are now trying to step in with their own ambitious offer.
The report highlights that the FIFA Club World Cup champions are attempting to lure the Argentine with a ‘strong sporting project and a highly competitive salary’.
Still, things are not straightforward for the Premier League club, as Real Madrid hold a percentage of his release clause, which complicates any direct move.
Despite this, Chelsea are said to be confident that with the right amount, they could beat Los Blancos to his signature.

Sources suggest that the player himself has a desire to return to the club that helped shape his early career, giving Madrid a significant advantage in this transfer battle.
Real Madrid view him as an ideal candidate to strengthen their midfield balance, particularly as the squad transitions with veterans slowly phasing out.
The belief within the club is that his return could be perfectly timed for the next cycle of the team.
However, Chelsea’s involvement cannot be ignored. The English giants have already proven in recent transfer windows that they are capable of spending vast sums, often assembling squads with enough depth for two starting XIs.
That financial muscle means they can easily test Real Madrid’s resolve, especially with their focus on building long-term projects around young talents.
Ultimately, the decision rests with Nico.
Whether he chooses to continue his career in the Premier League with Chelsea or return to Spain and represent Real Madrid again will depend on his priorities.
