Real Madrid were given a major boost ahead of their first Champions League game of the season against Olympique Marseille on Tuesday night. The French giants will travel to the Santiago Bernabeu to face a reinforced side.
That is because Jude Bellingham and Eduardo Camavinga are fit to return to action, in the Englishman’s case, well ahead of schedule. Xabi Alonso has been somewhat short on midfield options of late, but is now reinforced ahead of their return to Europe.
Bellingham was originally termed for a return in October, and more likely in mid-October after surgery on his shoulder in July. However his return now gives him nearly two weeks to get back up to speed before Real Madrid head into the Madrid derby against city rivals Atletico Madrid at the end of the month. While he is unlikely to start immediately, Bellingham will likely be targeting a starting spot. Alonso had said just days ago he would be back before October, but few predicted such a swift return.

Meanwhile Eduardo Camavinga also returns to action after 4.5 months out of action with a tendon tear in April, and tried to come back for the Club World Cup, but suffered a setback in the process. More recently, a separate ankle injury in training has extended his recovery period, as per Diario AS.
It leaves just two senior players out through injury for Alonso, with forward Endrick Felipe still on his way back, and left-back Ferland Mendy still recovering from his own surgery. It is not yet clear when the Frenchman will be back, but Endrick is expected to be back in the fold in the next couple of weeks, having been kept out of the Club World Cup.
