Real Madrid hero Carlos Espí reveals what José Mourinho told him before entering the pitch vs Espanyol | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Carlos Espí has provided an insight into the words delivered to him by manager José Mourinho prior to entering the pitch for his debut Blancos appearance.

Youngster Espí is for his part of course fresh off an evening to remember on Saturday… With his teammates locked at 1-1 in a tense La Liga opener against Espanyol, the summer arrival was thrown into the fray in search of a goal.

And it did not take Espí long to find precisely that, showcasing composure beyond his tender years to control and slot home from close range inside the Espanyol penalty area.

During the final moments prior to taking to the field of play at the RCDE Stadium, Espí was spotted deep in conversation with the aforementioned José Mourinho, who appeared to be passing advice to his young goalscorer.

Speaking to the media in the game’s aftermath, the player himself was therefore asked what exactly his manager said. And Espí went on to explain:

“He told me to seize this moment and make it count. He said he believed that I would contribute to the winning goal. I am happy to be playing for the biggest club in the world. HALA MADRID!”
