Real Madrid are eyeing new signings in midfield and defence for the upcoming summer transfer window, especially after it has become glaringly clear that the squad needs better depth in those departments.
Young talents, needless to say, appeal to the club more than seasoned veterans, and Real Madrid are said to be willing to shell out a decent sum to capture the signing of such budding stars.
Kees Smit, on that front, stands as a name who highly appeals to Los Blancos and is seen as one of the fastest-growing midfield talents in the sport.
Now, as relayed by Sacha Tavolieri in a recent report, Smit is on top of Real Madrid’s list and has been extensively scouted by Juni Calafat. Even the club’s video analysts have validated him to be a great target for the summer.
The interest, however, is not only from Real Madrid’s side for the player too has an equally strong desire to defend the Merengues’ crest.

Indeed, Smit has been a lifelong Real Madrid fan and dreams of playing for the club. Needless to say, that factor could well play a massive role in any negotiations that ensue between Real Madrid and his current club AZ Alkmaar.
As it stands, the Dutch outfit would be willing to sell the player for a sum between €30 million and €35 million.
While Real Madrid do see that sum to be high, it is in line with their idea of investing in young talents and will thus be a major point in the club’s transfer plans.
An exciting young talent with great potential, Smit could prove to be a smart addition for Real Madrid in the long run.
