Having beaten Real Oviedo on Thursday night, Real Madrid will be back in action again on Sunday when they face Sevilla away from home in their penultimate match of the season.

With the dressing room tension at an all-time high and nothing left to play for in the season except for pride, Los Blancos will hope to end the campaign with wins in the remaining two games.

And ahead of the game against Sevilla, Real Madrid may have received a fitness boost.

Federico Valverde back in training

Indeed, according to MARCA, Federico Valverde resumed training with his Real Madrid teammates today.

The Uruguayan international completed part of the workout alongside his teammates, participating in low-intensity exercises such as rondos and finishing drills.

The midfielder avoided any activity involving contact or physical impact, strictly following the instructions of the medical staff.

“No exercises involving impacts or any risk for him,” club sources explained.

What happened to Valverde?

Valverde is currently recovering from a head injury he suffered following a physical altercation with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni in the locker room last week.

During the fight, the midfielder hit his head on a table which allegedly made him dizzy and rendered him semi-conscious while also leaving him with a wound that needed stitches.

Real Madrid immediately activated the standard medical protocol used for head injuries, including rest and close monitoring to avoid any potential risks. Club doctors initially estimated a recovery period of between 10 and 14 days.

Valverde is now gradually returning to normality and continues to move closer to a full return to action.

Real Madrid’s priority is clear: respect every stage of the concussion protocol before allowing Valverde to fully rejoin competitive action. His recovery is progressing positively, although final clearance still depends on medical approval.

In this context, the possibility of Valverde being included in the squad for the Sevilla clash remains slim. However, a potential return in the final match of the season against Athletic Club has not been ruled out, provided he successfully passes the final evaluations.
