France has been undoubtedly the best team in the tournament so far, consistently putting in top shelf displays in almost every game.

While the attack has been the biggest driver of this success, their midfield has worked well too, with Aurelien Tchouameni and Adrien Rabiot forming a solid pairing in the middle of the park – the pair is set to be reunited for the semifinal against Spain.

In light of Rabiot’s successful World Cup, the player is now eyeing a move away from AC Milan, with Real Madrid earmarked as a potential destination.

According to Miguel Serrano, Real Madrid received an offer in the past week to sign Rabiot, with the proposal arriving at the club’s offices through an intermediary.

The 31-year-old belongs to AC Milan but is keen to leave the Italian club, and his impressive form on the international stage has only strengthened his desire for a fresh challenge.

Rabiot has been a key figure for Deschamps’ France, stepping up to become the driving force in midfield following Tchouameni’s injury during the tournament, and his partnership with the Real Madrid man has been near-flawless.

Notably, this is not the first time Rabiot has been available to Los Blancos. Back in 2024, the midfielder could have joined the club on a free transfer, only for Real Madrid to reject the opportunity.

Despite his obvious quality and strong World Cup, Real Madrid remain unconvinced about pursuing a deal, for a couple of reasons.

Firstly, his club form is a concern. While Rabiot has excelled for France, his performances at Milan throughout the season were considered fairly underwhelming, cooling the enthusiasm the club once had for him.

Secondly, and perhaps more significantly, there are reservations about his character. Rabiot has long carried a reputation as a controversial and outspoken figure, and has experienced friction in various dressing rooms throughout his career.

It is that so-called attitude that gives Real Madrid pause, with the club wary of disrupting the harmony Jose Mourinho is trying to build.
