‘The truth is that’… Inigo Martinez reacts after extending his Barcelona contract for another year | OneFootball

Deco and FC Barcelona are continuing their work to ensure the continuity of some of the most important players in the Blaugrana squad. In this regard, they were able to conclude the renewal of the Basque defender Inigo Martinez on Thursday.

Thus, the Spaniard became the latest player to get a renewal, after other important players like Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi had already signed their renewals some weeks ago.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the former Athletic Club centre-back spoke to Barcelona media after this renewal and expressed his happiness about adding another year to his contract.

The defender had no qualms that he would be staying in the best team in the world with this renewal:

“The truth is that I am very happy, both myself and my family, to be able to stay another year in this great club, where they fully trusted me from the very first minute. We are happy to be here for another year, to keep fighting to win many more titles. It is a pleasure to be at Barcelona, the best team in the world.”

Martinez took this opportunity to also comment on the highly successful season he is having with Barcelona:

“I’m feeling good and looking forward to the upcoming matches. We have some tough games ahead, but they are also exciting. I think this is a thrilling year, and it’s in our hands. We are in great form, and we know that if we keep playing at this level, we will have chances to win many more titles, and hopefully, that will be the case.”

The Basque defender himself has been a key contributor to this good season for the Blaugranes. He has established himself as a fixed starter for Hansi Flick in the centre of the defence, along with Pau Cubarsi, and hopefully, he will be able to add some more titles to his list of achievements after having already won the Spanish Super Cup with La Blaugrana.
