Real Madrid have a squad brimming with talent, and some of the youngsters may need to leave on loan to aid their development.

Along those lines, Los Blancos are prepared to allow Franco Mastantuono to leave on loan this summer, with the club believing that regular minutes elsewhere could be the best next step in his development.

Indeed, according to Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are ready to give the green light to a temporary exit, but any deal would be a straight loan with no purchase option included.

Real Madrid want to protect Mastantuono’s future

That condition is the most important detail from a Real Madrid perspective.

The club are not looking to cash in on Mastantuono or weaken their long-term control over one of their most highly rated young players.

Instead, Los Blancos appear to see his situation in a similar way to Endrick’s in January. The priority is development through playing time, while keeping the player firmly inside the club’s future plans.

More than five clubs from Spain and abroad are interested, which should give Real Madrid the chance to choose a destination carefully rather than simply accepting the first proposal.

Playing time will be decisive

For Mastantuono, the next move needs to be about minutes and responsibility.

Staying at Real Madrid without a clear role could slow his progress, especially in a squad already packed with attacking and creative talent.

A well-chosen loan could give him the freedom to make mistakes, adapt to senior football and return with greater maturity.

Real Madrid have enough depth to think long term here rather than forcing a young player into a role before he is ready.

Los Blancos could try to negotiate a deal where, much like they did with Endrick and Lyon, the club that takes him on loan could have him for free as long as he plays a certain number of games.

A sensible development decision

The key right now is finding the right destination for his development. The club need to be the correct tactical fit and have the right manager, one who can get the best out of Mastantuono and also help him develop.

That is where Florentino Perez and the sporting leadership must be selective. A loan only works if the player actually plays.

It remains to be seen where Mastantuono plays during the upcoming season and how the loan spell benefits him and Real Madrid in the long run.
