Real Madrid star admits he is ‘aware’ of his poor individual form | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Federico Valverde has early this week opened up on his rare recent struggles on the pitch.

The name of midfielder Valverde has taken its place centre stage in the chatter in Spain’s capital over recent weeks.

This, unfortunately for the Uruguayan, though, comes for less than positive reasons.

Usually considered ‘Mr. Reliable’, and acting as one of the most reliable players in Real Madrid’s squad, Valverde all of a sudden looks some way short of his best.

In fact, just this past weekend, the 27-year-old was singled out for heavy criticism by his own fans, for the level of his showing in a 5-2 derby day defeat at the hands of Atlético.

Faced by the media in a press conference on Monday, the subject of his recent struggles was in turn put to Valverde himself.

And the midfielder was not shy in admitting that he is fully aware of his dip in form:

“I’m frustrated. I’m aware of how I’m playing, and I’m the first to know. A player knows when he’s having a bad game and when he’s not doing things right on the pitch. I started well in this new project, had a good Club World Cup, but now it’s been harder for me to feel comfortable on the pitch. I’ll continue to give my all as captain, on and off it.”
