Whether Real Madrid fans like it or not, Jose Mourinho appears to be closing in on becoming the club’s coach for next season.

Talks between Real Madrid and the Portuguese tactician are already at an advanced stage, and things could be finalised very soon.

Mourinho, though, is a polarising character, which is not exactly ideal for a dressing room already split into factions, and many players, therefore, may face problems with his arrival. One of them is Vinicus Jr.

What Vini thinks of Mourinho appointment

A recent report from The Athletic, though, has clarified that the Brazilian international won’t have any problems with Mourinho’s appointment this summer.

This is significant given the recent history between the two. Back in February, during Real Madrid’s Champions League clash against Benfica in Lisbon, Vinicius claimed he was subjected to racist abuse by Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni.

Mourinho, manager of Benfica, responded in a manner that drew widespread condemnation, hinting that Vinicius had provoked the incident rather than condemning the alleged abuse.

The comments sparked fierce criticism from across the football world, with anti-racism campaigners and pundits alike taking aim at Mourinho for his handling of the situation.

Many felt his response was dismissive of a serious allegation at a time when the sport continues to grapple with racism.

Despite all of that, the report suggests Vinicius will not hold the episode against Mourinho and will not view his arrival as a problem.

For a dressing room already in dire need of stability, that is an encouraging sign for what lies ahead.
