An up-and-coming member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was on Sunday rewarded with his first-ever senior appearance in the club’s colours.
The player in question? Illia Voloshyn.
Voloshyn, for those not familiar with his name, is a 19-year-old shot-stopper, who has long been held in high regard in Spain’s capital.
The youngster is best known for his towering stature, standing at over two metres tall. He spent this past season plying his trade with Real Madrid C, and caught the eye of incoming first-team boss José Mourinho along the way.
Voloshyn, in turn, was recently afforded a call-up to senior training for pre-season at Valdebebas. And as alluded to above, on Sunday, as much culminated in a debut appearance for the talented Ukrainian.
En route to Los Blancos brushing German outfit Schalke aside in a friendly clash, Voloshyn featured off the bench, a milestone outing for the shot-stopper.
