Real Sociedad ended their pre-season on Saturday and open La Liga on Friday against Betis at La Cartuja at 21:00. Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side conceded in all seven friendlies and head into the week without a signing.

A late move for centre-back Nayef Aguerd collapsed despite agreement between clubs, due to differences with Matarazzo over early-season minutes. Up front they want Fabio Silva, but face competition from Betis and Villarreal.

Mikel Oyarzabal and Pablo Marín made their first appearances of the summer against Chelsea, the captain after post-World Cup leave and the midfielder after recovering from a right hamstring injury.

Jon Gorrotxategi and Gonçalo Guedes are yet to feature due to fitness issues. Jon Karrikaburu has not played for technical reasons as he awaits a departure before the window closes.
