Real Sociedad’s supporters left Seville elated after a historic weekend, their Copa triumph turning the city blue and white.
According to Diario Vasco, Sunday began quietly as weary travellers drifted home. Hodei, 23, from Pasaia, said the long night and lost sleep were worth it and unforgettable.
Outside the NH Collection hotel, fans gathered behind barriers to salute the squad. Victoria and Manuel, from Peña Nazarena and El Sur, said numbers far exceeded expectations and both sets of supporters mixed without trouble.
On Saturday, more than 30,000 filled the centre, from the Giralda to Setas and Triana, overwhelming bars with Feria still to come.
Light moments included a Triana resident hanging a Real flag from her balcony, and a newlywed couple on Mateos Gago serenaded before brandishing a scarf and flag.
At Setas, the Tamborrada Antonio, led by Tito Marcelino in a Txuri Urdin shirt, played Marcha de San Sebastián and the club anthem as locals clapped and some visitors cried.
Not everything ran smoothly. The Fan Zone briefly shut as numbers far outstripped a 26,000 forecast, and in roughly 35C heat a crush built when riot police formed a cordon, which initially made pressure worse. After about 30 minutes, entry resumed and several were treated for heat.
There were complaints about scarce drink stalls, prices and a lack of ice, yet more than 10,000 still roared the team. At the hotel, Luka, hoarse, said the penalties were nerve-racking, praised Marrero and called it the best day of his life.
