Michael Olise is one of the most valuable players in the FC Bayern squad, so it comes as no surprise that Real Madrid are said to have the Frenchman on their radar. While Munich consider their attacking star to be unsellable, a completely different question could ultimately decide his future.

Speculation surrounding Michael Olise continues to gather pace. According to media reports, Real Madrid are looking closely at signing the French international, with sums of between 150 and 200 million euros being bandied about for a potential transfer.

For FC Bayern, however, the size of a potential offer is currently irrelevant. At Säbener Straße, Olise is seen as an absolute key player for the coming years. President Herbert Hainer recently emphasized that Olise is „of course not for sale“ and that Real can save themselves the trouble.

At the same time, the record champions are said to already be working on an early contract extension beyond 2029. Those responsible see Olise not only as a key player of the present, but also as one of the faces of the future.

Nevertheless, the situation is more complex than it appears at first glance.

It’s not Bayern or Real that decides

In modern top-flight soccer, even long-term contracts are no longer an absolute guarantee. With world-class players in particular, a lot depends on what they themselves want from their career.

And this is precisely where the great unknown lies with Olise.

So far, neither the player nor his management have commented publicly on the rumours surrounding Real Madrid, but it is clear that Olise currently has no intention of moving and feels extremely comfortable in Munich.

Nevertheless, there are indications as to which career goals could appeal to the attacking player in the long term.

Born and educated in London, Olise played for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City in his youth before making his way through Reading and Crystal Palace. Despite his successful development, he has never played for one of the big Premier League clubs.

This is precisely why there is constant speculation that a return to England could appeal to the Frenchman in the long term.

At the same time, however, there is another aspect that could make Real Madrid particularly interesting for Olise.

Although he grew up in England, the attacking player made a conscious decision to play for the French national team, not only because of his family roots, but also because of his close ties to French soccer.

Kylian Mbappé in particular is said to be one of the players Olise has admired for years, and the fact that the international star now wears the Real Madrid shirt makes the situation all the more interesting from the Spaniard’s point of view.

The idea of playing alongside Mbappé in an attacking role could be particularly appealing to many French internationals.

Nevertheless, there are currently no concrete signs that Olise is looking to leave FC Bayern. On the contrary: after his outstanding season, the Frenchman is considered one of the most important building blocks in Vincent Kompany’s plans.

However, it is also clear that should Olise express a desire for a new challenge at some point, the situation would change fundamentally. Whether this could be the case after the 2026 World Cup or only in a few years‘ time remains to be seen.

Until then, FC Bayern’s position remains unchanged. The Munich club consider their attacking star to be indispensable. And as long as Michael Olise himself does not pursue any other plans, this is unlikely to change.
