Pep Guardiola says that Marc Guehi already makes Manchester City a better team after he made his debut in City’s 2-0 win over Wolves.
The former Crystal Palace captain moved to the Manchester club this week and played a big part in his side keeping a clean sheet in his City debut.
City have been very light in defence after recent long term injuries to Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol.
Guardiola explained why he has already put Guehi into his starting 11, despite the defender only joining this week.
“The captain of Crystal Palace has to be something special,” he said. “Really pleased for him. He is so demanding for ourselves to do better. Good players adapt quick and understand the game so that’s why.”
Omar Marmoush opened the scoring for Guardiola’s men in his first start since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Manchester City boss was full of praise for Marmoush after the match.
“People have a question of numbers,” Guardiola said. “Assists, goals, assists, goals, assists, goals so I’m happy with Omar for his energy. We did it.”
Wolves are currently bottom of the Premier League, but the City manager said that he understands how good of a team they are.
“We won against a team who were unbeaten in the last four or five games so pretty pleased.”
