A former member of the attacking ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is enjoying nothing short of a remarkable career resurgence at present.
The player in question? Vitor Roque.
Frontman Roque of course brought a permanent close to his short-lived and altogether forgetful Barcelona career earlier this year.
Just over a year on from arriving in Catalunya’s capital from Brazil, the youngster headed back to his home country, with Palmeiras.
Prior to this, Roque had already been farmed out on loan to Manuel Pellegrini’s Real Betis, after failing to sufficiently impress incoming Barca head coach Hansi Flick.
The 20-year-old did not exactly set the world alight from the off upon his return to Brazil, either, struggling to find his shooting boots in Palmeiras colours.
As alluded to above, though, over recent months, the situation has taken an altogether dramatic turn.
In fact, Roque is currently one of the most in-form players in all of South America.
All told, across his last 14 appearances in all competitions, the young striker has racked up 16 direct goal contributions.
This includes five goals in his last four appearances in the league, and a Man of the Match award against Red Bull Bragantino last week.
Murmurs, in turn, have begun to mount in Brazil that Roque is in line for a recall to the national team setup under the watch of former Real Madrid headmaster Carlo Ancelotti.
