Vasco’s membership has surged, with paying Sócio Gigante numbers rising from 44,150 in July 2025 to 67,739 by January 2026, up 53%. According to GE, it was the fifth-fastest percentage growth in Brazilian football, behind Mirassol, Chapecoense, Cuiabá and CRB.
The rise follows a revamp of plans. Gigante costs R$199.98 a month, gives 75% off tickets across São Januário and second-wave priority. Camisas Negras is R$11.98 with 30% off, sixth-wave priority and a Zé Delivery voucher, while Coração Infantil for under-12s is R$9.98.
After a 1-0 defeat to Vitória on the league’s return, Vasco fell to 17th ahead of two home tests, Mirassol in the Brasileirão on 25 July, then Independiente Medellín on 29 July to decide a Copa Sul-Americana last 16 berth after a 2-2 first leg in Medellín. Ticket-wave priority made membership a direct mobilising tool.
The surge matters financially with no main shirt sponsor this season. O Povo reported a May QR-code on the kit drew over 17,000 unique hits and 3,112 new Vasco ID sign-ups in a day.
Vasco also remain in the Copa do Brasil, having eliminated Paysandu in the fifth phase to reach the last 16 and reprise last year’s semi-final with Fluminense, first leg due in early August. KTO lists Vasco joint fifth favourites for the 2026 crown alongside Atlético-MG.
The board view the expanding base and run of decisions at home and away as a chance to turn recurring income into results. The primary task stays on the pitch, to take points against Mirassol and progress in the Sul-Americana before the August clássico with Fluminense.
