Referee Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima wrote that he was abused by Corinthians staff after the draw with Flamengo, adding police escorted him to the officials’ dressing room. According to Meu Timao, his display drew criticism.

Leonardo Carnevale and Mauro van Basten were identified among those shouting outside the referees’ area. Military police had to use force to let the officials enter.

Under the CBJD, threats to officials can lead to fines up to R$ 100,000, loss of home matches for one to 10 games or closed doors after disorder. The STJD may close stadiums and suspend staff for 15 to 180 days, rising to 360, with preventive bans up to 30 days. No one has been charged.

Corinthians were angered by a penalty shout when André Luiz fell under Ayrton Lucas, which was neither given nor sent for review by VAR official Wagner Reway. Lima was criticised for inconsistent fouls, stoppages and minimal added time.

After the Clássico das Multidões, captain Gustavo Henrique said the referee tried to compensate for Evertton Araújo’s red card. Executive Marcelo Paz alleged Lima pushed Rodrigo Garro, while coach Dorival Júnior lamented another turbulent outing.

This was Corinthians’ second 2026 league match with Lima, after February’s 1-0 win over Athletico-PR, when he also reported an alleged threat by assistant Lucas Silvestre, later banned for three games. The draw left Corinthians on 10 points in 11th, with Fluminense away on 1 April at 21:30 at the Maracanã after the Fifa window.
