Régis Le Bris has said he told Habib Diarra in pre-season that he would have a major part to play, with the midfielder now edging towards a return this month.

According to Sunderland Echo, the 22-year-old produced a sharp cameo in the August win over Fulham, setting up Wilson Isidor before a hamstring injury minutes later. It is not yet clear whether he will feature in the busy week of fixtures after the current international break.
