Régis Le Bris insists Sunderland should keep the core of their squad together this summer, even if recent form invites attention from top sides. He expects stability heading into next season.

Brian Brobbey became the latest player linked with a summer move this week, with The Independent reporting Bayern Munich are tracking his progress. Sunderland have long accepted occasional departures to support finances and remain attractive to elite prospects, yet Le Bris still anticipates continuity.

"We never know what will happen because the market is so unpredictable," he said. He added the club do not want to change a whole team, and that Kyril Louis-Dreyfus is clear and ambitious, not keen to sell half the squad. Decisions will respect the market and be taken at the right time.

Qualification for Europe could bring both opportunity and strain, as extra fixtures would demand a deeper group. UEFA rules would also cap squad costs at 70% of revenue. Le Bris said they are not actively planning for that scenario yet, but feel the club can move decisively whatever the campaign delivers.

Director of football Florent Ghisolfi has overhauled scouting and recruitment, and Le Bris says Sunderland will be ready. Earlier this month Ghisolfi said they will try to improve, with stability the priority. He stressed the club aims to be sustainable, do not need to sell given Premier League revenues, but will sometimes trade to manage cycles and attract young talent.
