Sunderland are preparing for a pivotal summer window after a successful first season back in the Premier League, and Régis Le Bris believes the club are well prepared.
According to Sunderland Echo, Florent Ghisolfi arrived last summer, led a major recruitment drive, and has since rebuilt the department with a new scouting team focused on targets for this window and beyond.
Le Bris remains focused on the run-in but will soon add his views to recruitment meetings. He notes Ghisolfi came in late last summer, then spent 10 months building the structure, with scouts tracking multiple leagues and meeting every two or three months. Ghisolfi challenges or supports proposals, and their latest meeting was held last week.
Le Bris believes Sunderland will be ready to act, while stressing the transfer market can be unpredictable.
European qualification remains a mathematical possibility despite back-to-back defeats. Le Bris says they have not planned specifically for that scenario, though the club would adjust numbers if required. He is not concerned, pointing to a positive outcome despite a late start last year.
Ghisolfi has said stability will underpin the summer, with attempts to strengthen balanced by a sustainable approach. He added there is no need to sell because of Premier League revenues, though some departures may happen as part of player cycles and pathways.
