Régis Le Bris has urged Sunderland’s youngsters to turn recent frustration into progress after a four-match Premier League run without a win. The head coach believes missed chances must become lessons.
According to Sunderland Echo, the sequence featured a 5-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest but also strong displays and fine margins. At Aston Villa, Sunderland had a chance to go 4-3 up when Habib Diarra was denied one on one by Emiliano Martinez. In the 0-0 draw with Manchester United, Sene Lammens saved well from Noah Sadiki and Brian Brobbey.
Le Bris said many in his squad are still learning at this level and that composure comes with experience and maturity. He wants decision-making sharpened through training, stressing that instinctive finishing can be refined. He highlighted that Diarra, 22, and Sadiki, 21, are in their first Premier League season.
He reiterated that this summer points to evolution rather than revolution, with a smaller number of arrivals expected to raise the starting XI and deepen the squad.
A robust display against United, third in the table, moved Sunderland to 48 points and underlined that view. Le Bris called it a platform and said stability will be key, adding that three or four smart additions could help.
Sadiki admitted he was gutted not to convert his early openings and said he must do better. He felt the performance showed Sunderland are improving and was a response for the fans, although it still fell short without three points.
