Régis Le Bris faces significant selection calls as Sunderland host Nottingham Forest in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light on Friday night. A likely XI is emerging as the Black Cats chase a top-half finish and a possible European berth.
According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach is likely to work with the same squad that travelled to Aston Villa last Sunday, with scope to reshuffle from a well-stocked bench.
Goalkeeper Robin Roefs has enjoyed a superb campaign and should have a major role here.
Nordi Mukiele has been restored at right back in recent weeks. Le Bris views him as central to Sunderland’s attacking threat at home, so he seems set to continue.
Dan Ballard was managed carefully last week but, after minutes at Villa Park and a full week of training, it would be a major surprise if he did not return to the XI.
Omar Alderete has been excellent of late and is integral in and out of possession. He was withdrawn in the second half at Villa due to illness that affected five or six Sunderland players, but he should be fit to start.
