Negotiations between Milan and Fenerbahce over Rafael Leao’s transfer to Istanbul are ongoing. According to Calciomercato, there’s still a substantial gap between the Rossoneri’s asking price and the Turkish giants’ offer.

Milan value their talismanic winger at €60 million. However, Leao’s departure feels inevitable after the 27-year-old bid farewell to the San Siro faithful at the end of last season. Therefore, the 19-time Serie A winners will listen to offers for the former Lille man, but they’re reluctant to budge on their valuation.

On the other hand, Fenerbahce have overtaken Galatasaray and other interested clubs in the race for Rafael Leao. Yet, despite seeing their opening €40m bid rejected by Milan, Ismail Kartal’s men have shown little willingness to improve their proposal. Anyway, talks between the clubs are underway, with Jorge Mendes working tirelessly to broker an agreement that would satisfy all parties involved.

Leao’s career in Lombardy has reached the point of no return. Despite joining Ruben Amorim’s pre-season camp, the Portuguese forward has set one foot outside San Siro, with his exit becoming a virtual certainty.

However, Milan will still look to squeeze every last penny out of any deal, especially given Leao’s status as one of the club’s most valuable assets. Moreover, Leao has already outlined his wage demands. He insists on a whopping €10m annual salary.

Despite all those hurdles, Fenerbahce are not ready to give up. Instead, they’re maintaining constant contact with Milan, knowing the Rossoneri have decided to cash in on the 2022 Scudetto winner.
