Reports claim Real doctors examined wrong knee of Kylian Mbappé | OneFootball

A major medical error at Real Madrid involving Kylian Mbappé’s knee has been alleged, though the forward says he feels fine.

On RMC, Daniel Riolo claimed a misdiagnosis in Madrid left the player angry, and that a French specialist later identified faults in the initial assessment.

Riolo also said authorised circles were calling the mistake huge, alleging Real examined the wrong knee, a line reported by Spanish outlets including Cadena Cope. He further suggested the club had dismissed medical staff because of the error.

On Monday evening, at a promotional event announcing a tie-up with health insurer Alan, Mbappé said his knee was fine and that he had recovered 100 percent after finding the right diagnosis back in Paris. He has 94 France caps.

The trouble began with left knee pain in December. Apart from missing the four January home match against Betis, a 5-1 win, the 27-year-old continued playing before a break of about 20 days in late February.

The issue appears to have been caught in time. He came off the bench in Sunday’s Madrid derby against Atlético, joined the national squad at Clairefontaine on Monday, and could start against Brazil as the season builds towards a World Cup.
