Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski recently spoke to Mundo Deportivo to share his views on several key topics, including Lamine Yamal, the Ballon d’Or, and Real Madrid’s potential new manager, Xabi Alonso.

He also weighed in on Barça’s goalkeeping future and praised fellow teammates for their growth this season.

Lewandowski had high praise for young Lamine Yamal, calling his contract extension until 2031 a major win for the club.

He believes Lamine has a very mature mindset for his age and has already shown impressive growth in the past few months.

“Mentally, he seems like he’s 23 or 24 already,” Lewandowski said. “If he continues to work hard for the next five, six, or seven years, he can definitely reach the top.”

When asked about Lamine’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, Lewandowski admitted it’s possible but noted the unpredictability of the award.

He has a chance, of course, but there are other things that are very important about the Ballon d’Or. It depends on the rules they have this year.

“Every year, you have different rules. It depends on who they want and what the rules are this season.”

Working with Yamal, Raphinha and Ferran

He also expressed his joy at playing alongside Lamine and Raphinha, stating, “The three of us together were one of the most dangerous attacking trios this season.

“I think we were difficult for many opponents to stop. I think next season we have to be more dangerous as a team.”

Lewandowski certainly did not forget Ferran Torres either, acknowledging that the Spanish forward stepped up in key moments.

“I think it was his first season as a centre forward, and he showed he can really help the team. He is a player who can perfectly help the team,” he said.

Thoughts on Szczesny, Garcia and Xabi Alonso

With Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s future at Barça uncertain, Joan Garcia has emerged as a potential replacement.

Lewandowski admitted Garcia had a solid season but raised a valid point, “If we talk about his season, it’s been good; he’s a very good goalkeeper.

“But I think he’s a goalkeeper for a team that has 10 chances in a game and can save 8 or 9, whereas at Barcelona, you have one or two in a game and you have to save them.

“It’s a topic I don’t want to talk about; I don’t have enough information.”

The Pole also talked about Wojciech Szczesny and his potential renewal, stating, After the last game, I didn’t want to talk to Tek or the club.

“I think the club is perfectly looking for a solution. I don’t know what direction they want to go, but I hope Tek will be with us next season.”

Lastly, on Xabi Alonso taking over as Real Madrid’s coach, Lewandowski was not surprised. “I knew Xabi would become a coach one day.

He was smart and saw the game very well. He might need some time, but he’s the right kind of coach for a club like Real Madrid,” he added.
