Robin Roefs is being monitored by major European clubs and could be in line for a £21.5m summer move, with fresh claims highlighting his rapid rise at Sunderland.
"Roefs is doing fantastically well, and there are quite a few big clubs watching him right now." "We shouldn’t be surprised if that boy makes a big move in the summer, a year after NEC and Sunderland. I assume he will go to the World Cup," he told De Telegraaf.
Roefs joined from NEC Nijmegen last summer and quickly became Sunderland’s No 1 under Régis Le Bris. He has eight clean sheets in 28 Premier League games, alongside strong save percentage and total saves.
His command of the area has also stood out, with high claims and aerial duels won ranking among the best in the division.
In the Netherlands, his form is seen as strengthening his international prospects, with suggestions he is closing the gap on Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen for a squad place.
Sunderland paid around £11.6m (€13.5m) for Roefs last summer, and he is now being valued at about £21.5m (€25m), which could mean a significant profit if Europe’s elite act this summer.
