The riots in Nice during the Europa League match against Roma have drawn the attention of UEFA, which is considering disciplinary action against the Giallorossi.
According to a report by Corriere dello Sport, the European football body could impose travel restrictions, potentially banning Roma fans from following the team to certain international matches.
Roma was already under observation for similar incidents in Budapest in 2023 and Bilbao last season. The French incident, therefore, could further aggravate the club’s position before the disciplinary commission in Nyon.
On the judicial front, the situation is equally delicate.
Following the riots, over one hundred fans were detained by French police. Eighty-nine of them were released after more than 24 hours in custody, while thirteen were remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Nice court on November 26.
The charges brought against them carry sentences that, in some cases, could reach up to five years in prison, a testament to the gravity of the events that occurred.
