AS Roma are not keen on allowing young talent Niccolò Pisilli to depart on loan in January, as the club is focused on maintaining squad depth while challenging for European qualification. This stance comes despite significant interest from multiple Serie A and Serie B clubs, according to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb (TMW).
The midfielder is a sought-after prospect on the winter market and is reportedly evaluating a loan move to secure more consistent playing time. The report confirms that the clubs showing interest in Pisilli include Parma and Genoa—with the latter’s interest driven by the presence of former Roma player Daniele De Rossi on the bench—and the latest club to enquire is Sassuolo.
However, the club’s current priority is to ensure the roster is not depleted. TMW reports that Roma is determined not to shrink the squad which is currently delivering “decent responses,” and is looking to expand it to allow them to compete for their European objectives. For the moment, this means blocking Pisilli’s temporary exit.
Pisilli, who has already spoken highly of new coach Gian Piero Gasperini and his winning mentality, will continue to train with the first team, with the understanding that opportunities will come if he follows the manager’s methods.
