The negotiation between Roma and Paulo Dybala has gone into overtime. The parties couldn’t strike a deal before he technically became a free agent. There continues to be optimism, but the latest proposal hasn’t been well-received, Corriere dello Sport informs.

The capital club has offered just a one-year deal with an option, while La Joya would like a longer one. He and his agent, Carlo Novel, are preparing a counterproposal. He’ll take a significant pay cut, and the deal will be incentive-laden.

Roma will start their pre-season preparation in about ten days, and ideally, Dybala will have put pen to paper by then. While the Giallorossi didn’t sell anybody before June 30th, they can now start adding. The purchases no longer count against last season’s balance sheets.

Mason Greenwood remains their number one target, but Olympique Marseille aren’t budging. The capital club can tender up to €46M in a multi-layered package. The counterparty wants about €10M more. Other teams are in the race, for instance, Fenerbahce and Atletico Madrid, whose coffers would be full if they sold Julian Alvarez or Alexander Sorloth.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, La Joya has informed Boca Juniors that he won’t join, despite not having yet struck a deal with his current side. The capital club has inquired about Alexander Garnacho. He moved to Chelsea for €46M last year and notched eight goals and four assists in a seesawing season.

They aren’t wrong in taking precautions given the former’s every precarious physique, but they have to be careful not to push things too far, and they have already accomplished a lot in the talks. A quality double swoop up front can probably happen only if they cash in well on Matias Soulé.
