Romeu Tuma Júnior has returned as Corinthians’ Deliberative Council president after two months on leave. According to Meu Timao, he told councillors he had followed events closely and is back believing the moment demands calm, institutional responsibility and urgency.

He said he formally consulted the Ethics and Discipline Commission and that no proceedings exist against him. Despite public speculation since March, he added there is no basis for claims of his removal or of undue pressure on the executive led by Osmar Stabile.

Tuma said Friday’s court ruling had no bearing on his return, which was decided beforehand. The judge examined the meeting that provisionally removed him on 23 March and the 13 April notary record, then set aside the registration over a procedural flaw.

Only the council president can call extraordinary sessions, even if the request comes from the club president, and the registry should have flagged that irregularity. At the March session, councillors voted 115-15 to remove him after Stabile sought a precautionary suspension.

Stabile had accused him of threats, harassment and coercion during a dinner at Parque São Jorge. The then first secretary, Maria Ângela Ocampos, deemed the meeting irregular and tried to end it, but second secretary Denis Piovesan continued proceedings.

Tuma said he does not intend to assume the club presidency while Stabile is in the United States for a CBF-backed event with MLS and other leagues, and Stabile continues to work remotely. He will prioritise uniting the club for Saturday’s statute reform vote and safeguarding the electoral process ahead of November’s polls.
