That’s right, the 2025-26 Fans’ Choice Awards wrapped up on Thursday, with Julian Quinones marking news of his confirmation the Fans’ Player of the Season with an historic goal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup opener.
The Al Qadsiah forward, who scored at the Estadio Azteca for co-hosts Mexico against South Africa after nine minutes and was named the game's best player, picked up the RSL award thanks to his unrivalled 14 Man of the Match awards through the 2025-26 season.
Quinones had already bagged one of the league’s most cherished prizes, his 33 goals earning him the RSL golden boot just ahead of Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney.
In the race for Fans’ Player of the Season, built off the Man of the Match voted by you - the fans - after every RSL game, Quinones’ closest challengers were Al Taawoun’s Roger Martinez (12) and Al Shabab’s Yannick Carrasco (11).
Quinones succeeds Cristiano Ronaldo, who collected the inaugural Fans’ Player of the Season, in 2024-25.
The other winners of the Fans’ Choice Awards had been announced throughout the week, with Ronaldo’s stunning overhead-kick against Al Khaleej named your BSF Goal of the Season, having received an equally impressive 34 percent of the votes.
Meanwhile, Assist of the Season went to Al Qadsiah playmaker Musab Al Juwayr for his sublime set-up of Nahitan Nandez for the opening goal in the Eastern Derby victory against Al Ettifaq back in Matchweek 10.
The 2025-26 SPL's Saudi Player of the Season, expected to be one of his national team’s star men at the World Cup, took home the award with 24% of the vote.
Ultimately, Al Qadsiah celebrated double success, wth Koen Casteels getting his hands on Save of the Season for his stop in the Matchweek 2 encounter at Al Hilal.
With the hosts' Sergej Milinkovic-Savic seemingly set to score with a point-blank header, the 2024-25 SPL Goalkeeper of the Season leapt to his left to block the ball right on his goalline.
The save, which kept Al Qadsiah 1-0 up midway through the first half, garnered 27% of the votes.
With the Fans’ Choice Awards in the books, attention can turn more towards the World Cup, where the RSL boasts 48 of its stars competing in North America - making it the most represented league outside the game’s traditional “Big Five”
